Cate Carmichael
CO-OWNER / ART DIRECTOR
Cate’s journey began at sixteen in the world of cosplay, where they first discovered the thrill of transformation and the power of creating work that stops people in their tracks. That passion evolved into a professional career after graduating from the Makeup Design program at Vancouver Film School and working across film and television, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Child’s Play (2019), and The Magicians. Cate’s craft was further recognized with a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Effects Makeup for Aliens Stole My Body. After returning to Edmonton, Cate brought their leadership and expertise to the local film and entertainment community, serving as Head of Department for the Deadmonton Haunted House makeup team from 2023–2025. Grounded in a belief that the unconventional deserves celebration, Cate’s work proves that monsters—like people—are most powerful when they’re seen for who they truly are. Read full bio here.
