A makeup artist standing, applying makeup to a woman seated in a tall makeup chair

My love for makeup started back in high school, sparked by a fascination with the creatures and characters brought to life in film and theatre. I grew up watching legends like Ve Neill’s work on Pirates of the Caribbean and Greg Nicotero’s creations in The Walking Dead. Their artistry inspired me to experiment at home — doing the best I could with a tight budget and a lot of curiosity.

After high school, I took a more traditional route in search of stability. But deep down, I always felt something was missing. In 2023, I took a leap and applied for a makeup artist role at a local haunted house. I was honest in my interview — I didn’t have formal training, but I was eager to learn and ready to work hard. To my surprise (and slight disbelief), I got the job.

This is where I met my mentor, and now business partner Cate Carmichael. Working with Cate was a turning point. I was exhausted, covered in fake blood most nights — and the happiest I’d been in years. I took every opportunity to learn as much as possible, whether it was makeup, or fabricating props; I was there to take in every moment. That experience reminded me what I truly loved, and it gave me the push I needed to change my path.

I went back to school and graduated from the Masters Makeup Artistry program at the Alberta Academy of Aesthetics. Since then, I’ve continued to grow as an artist — returning to Deadmonton Haunted House each season, working in film and theatre, expanding my skills on-set and in the shop.

While I have a soft spot for the strange and spooky, I also love creating looks that are soft, elegant, or even a little twisted . I’m always looking for new ways to bring creative visions to life — whether they’re beautiful, horrifying, or somewhere in between.
